I know that a volume of manga only takes 30-60 minutes to read, depending on length and density, and so this doesn't really count towards the "50 books a year" thingy, but I sort of wanted to record in writing my manga/anime consumption this summer:

Anime
Monster (75 episodes)
Princess Tutu (26)
Yakitate! Japan (69)
Ranma 1/2 (15)
Astro Boy (3)
Hikaru No Go (19)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (14)
Neon Genesis Evangelion (26)
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu! (3 and counting)
GTO (8 and counting)
Metropolis (movie)

Total: 258 episodes = ~86 hours

Manga
Buddha (8 volumes)
GTO (25)
Monster (2)
Deathnote (~10)
Black Jack (2)
Astro Boy (16)
Adolf (5)
Ranma 1/2 (34)
Princess Knight (6)
Lone Wolf and Cub (4)
Phoenix (7)
Rurouni Kenshin (3)
Saiyuki (2)
Nextworld (2)
Gravitation (1)
Pluto (1)
Crime and Punishment
Lost World
Metropolis

Total: 131 volumes

...and that doesn't count any of the American comics I've read.

What's the "50 books a year" thing?

It's this thing that I think lowellboyslash and one or two others were doing where they found somewhere that said, "you should read 50 books a year," and started keeping track. Like, posting entries detailing books #13-15 and such. Those were mostly novels, though, although LBS did count a couple comic TPs, which aren't that much longer than manga volumes.
