Whoo, am I ever back at school.
Last night we attempted to dye my hair. I wanted a really deep red (like the last time I dyed it), and so we got a really bright red in hopes of compensating for the extreme darkness of my hair. Unfortunately, it did not compensate it enough, and so despite the assurances of gathered HRSFAen (as K, M and I re-entered the CLR in towels) that you can totally see it on top when I kind of lean my head forwards under the light, I plan to try again next week (K and M willing), only bleaching it first. This, I am aware, could be disastrous. But at least I'm doing it all for a really good reason: I feel like it.
I have already stayed up until 3:30 in the morning playing poker, and the same old mixture of pleasure, exhaustion and guilty thoughts of the next morning came right back same as always. At least by staying until the game ended, though, I won my original stake back, and got to argue with H over how to interpret Dresden Dolls songs ("Coin Operated Boy" is not about a vibrator!).
Today actually felt amazingly productive, even though it wasn't particularly. Although I had no classes (and may not on Tuesdays this term at all), I got myself out of bed, cleaned up, and out the door before noon, and even did a load of laundry. I stopped at the PBHA plant sale and bought a really pretty leafy thing in a pot for the common room, and a cute little bamboo shoot in a ceramic bowl for my desk.
Then in the afternoon, on the advice of K (passed on, I gather), I found Tozzer library and spent a full two and a half hours reading the first book for our shared Independent Study course. I was aided in this accomplishment, I will admit, by a fairly sizable stack of chocolate-chip cookies smuggled from the dining hall, and the nearly complete lack of any other people in the entire library.
Oh, by the way: I'm finally done putting together Cover Mix: The Unnecessary Sequel. See, when my roommate told me that the Cardigans (of "Lovefool" fame) had done a cover of Black Sabbath's "Iron Man," I knew my mix would not be complete until it was on there. So, "Iron Man" bumps off "Take On Me," and we are left with some truly damn weird and, frankly, completely unnecessary songs. Go covers!
