Aug. 17th, 2006 01:01 pmGeneral purpose update: my computer done broke.
The hard drive is still working fine, actually, but the monitor now has this thing it does where, I use it? And it stops working.
I can actually make it start working again for about a minute or so, if I give it minute-long breathers in between, but then it wheezes and goes black. My screen, effectively, has asthma.
Contributing to the Happy Carnival of Funtime Joy is that my 3-year warranty apparently ran out on July 22nd.
So, the short version is, I am effectively without computer, since the constant work/breather pattern is too annoying to tolerate for all but the most important stuff (like periodically checking email.) The graphics project I was doing is out, as are extended AIM conversations, since the length of time the screen stays lit for is directly proportional to the length of time I let it rest in between goes.
The good news is, I can still check email, and I have more or less full functionality for my work computer. I don't know when or how this will get fixed, though, so I'm going to be even less communicative than normal for a while, I suspect.
In happier news, the Metropolis movie was awesome, and I think places very well in the highly-competitive "Most Inappropriately Happy Music Played Over Grim Imagery" contest.
