It has nothing to do with which ending you end at, it just has to do with the lack of ending regardless. The additional part doesn't help, believe me.

And yeah, some good fiction ends without answering the deep mysteries it poses. I just feel there should be a warning, and the books shouldn't get readership from people who actually want an answer. It comes down to the fundamental question of, would you have read it if you knew beforehand there was no answer? It appears that for you, this book would still fit that. There's a LOT of pop-culture where a lot of people feel "no, I wouldn't have wasted my time."
