How do you mean, "no symbolism"? I've heard that the creator has refused to explain what, if anything, the stopwatch means, but the person who lent the series to me just explained about the Kabuki hair color system, which absolutely applies to the series (and, I'm told, significantly so in later seasons). And you can't tell me there's no symbolism whatever to the puppet plays, can you?
