I gather this is relatively old news among a certain crowd, but I just saw the video wherein Will Wright presents Spore.

You have got to see this. It's half an hour long, but it will blow your mind.

That man is, I can say without irony or exaggeration, a genius.

Seriously. Go watch. Nothing like this game has ever been done before.

I want it too! Like, I really, really want it. I don't know so much about the space stuff, but I want to evolve creatures and civilizations. That would just be cool beyond imagining... When does this thing come out?

One thing though: he's on the right track with the terraforming. The only problem is, you need water (i.e. the storms) and tectonics. Volcanoes are good, but just having plume volcanoes isn't going to do you nearly as much good as the full range of tectonic structures.

I'm sure there's lots of stuff, and he only ended up showing us volcanoes and the final cheat "Genesis Device". Really, I just wanna get this and play like mad. It looks like so much fun.
