So I wrote a song for my guitar.
This is good. I am going through a creative phase, perhaps in response to the weeks i spent studying.
Sadly, whenever I try and write songs, I have an awful time coming up with lyrics. My first stab always sounds pretentious, sort of like a high-schooler trying to be poetic. Chords and melody I have no trouble with--just words.
So, for this song, I write about breaking up, this being fresh on my mind.
The problem: conveying how I actually feel about breaking up makes for a pretty lame song. So I exaggerated a bit. A lot. I don't know. The chorus ends up being kind of accusing and mean. But it sounds good.
So, the question is, how can I ever play this for my friends, much less my ex-, and still retain any respect?
How can you write a song about something personal, and then tell people that, although it's personal, you don't actually agree with what you wrote?
Step 1: post a journal entry so that your ex-girlfriend, at least, will know about it.

Maybe I should just scrap the lyrics.
Again.

Ugh.
