So, I'm home. And for what might be the first time, although I love seeing my family again and can't wait to see old friends, I almost wish I were back at school. I miss people already, and I'm sad I missed out on the series of "yay, it's winter!" events. Ah, well.

Unrelatedly, I'm reading the Silmarillion for my final essay in Tolkien. Die, Tolkien, die. You suck.

Finally, Wooly Thinking has some truly nifty games. "Archipelago" and "Dark Room" are both excellently-constructed puzzle adventures, in the "walk around and solve lots of little puzzles in order to get clues to the big puzzle" vein.

What makes the site really great, though, are the hints. Both games have a hint page available in plain sight, and the authors actually know how to write really good hints, the kind that give you just the amount of nudge in the right direction you need without spoiling the sense of "ah hah!" you get upon solving the puzzles. And the puzzles, without the hints, are often damn hard. All in all, though, if you don't have particular qualms about asking for help, or you're just masochistic, these are really fun.

I feel as though that last paragraph was incoherent. But on the other hand, I'm jet-lagged, since my flight didn't get in until 2/5 in the morning yester...today.
