Cool things.
Jul. 29th, 2004 04:05 pmI have a keychain emblazoned with Aragorn's banner. It is very cool, and blue. It is an exclusive from the San Diego ComicCon, which I did not get to go to, but my boss did and brought this back for me. My boss is cool, even if he isn't actually into half the stuff we sell.
I also have this weird little keychain-like thingy from Terminator 2, which is more like a wristband with a little evil robotic head on the end. It is also from the Con, but I do not know whether or not it was an exclusive.
Also, my boss just casually gave me two of our company's leftover exclusives from the Con. They are miniature replicas of Obi-Wan's lightsaber from Episode IV, in an "as-built" condition, and they are worth a few hundred dollars, or will be when they appreciate. I did not know what to say, and still don't, really. They are very pretty.
My boss also brought back from the convention a 12-inch statue of Hellboy, made by some other company. It is amazingly sweet, though not as much as the full-sized replicas of the Samaritan (Hellboy's gun), which are also made by someone else. I am going to have to convince him to take this beautiful object out of the box and keep it on his desk, because it is sweet.
Did you know that Ron Perlman, the actor who played Hellboy, is also the voice of the main villain in the Teen Titans cartoon? Also, the voice of the single-episode character Aqualad (one of the lamest characters ever, in comics at least) was none other than one Wil Wheaton. I thought that was nifty.
I have been reading and enjoying Brian Michael Bendis's work on Ultimate Spider-Man. Now that I have BitTorrent, can people reccommend comic series that I must read to me? I've got lots of time.
