Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Feb. 19th, 2002 04:29 pmThe weather outside is really gray and rainy. And we have to read Thoreau tonight in English--"Civil Disobedience." Scarlett, I'm sure you remember your experiences with this guy in History of Thought. . . Anybody who doesn't think that Thoreau is THE most boring American author of all time, please let me know, so I can get you checked into a nice rest home.
Beyond that, though, the day isn't\wasn't all that bad. We had a passage analysis due in English today, which we were supposed to work on over the weekend. Except that I didn't. So I wisely decided to write it at lunch in the library. Erica has sworn to kill me if I do well on this, because she always spends a lot of time on her essays. We'll just have to see.
I also checked out four more OSC books from the school and public libraries. LOVE that guy. My mission is to read everything he's ever written, except for the religious stuff. However, I just started reading the first novel he ever wrote, and it's not that great so far. . . hopefully it will be up to what would later be his usual standard.
The other highlight of the day was when Mrs. Palmer (English teacher) told me that the introduction to my term paper was great, and that she loved the thesis. Go me! Now I just need to make up for not having done anything about the second draft all weekend, so I can turn it in on Friday.
I stopped at the bank after school and finally cashed my paycheck for refereeing. This will be my stipend for the next year, unless I find another job. It's really cool and kind of scary to have $300 in cash in your wallet. I wish I could experience it more often. While I'm wishing, I'd also like a pony.
Extra credit to anyone who recognzes that last line as being from "Calvin and Hobbes."
peace
