Graphic-free at last!
Jan. 30th, 2002 07:58 pmA couple of months ago, I suddenly rediscovered my love affair with Infocom computer games. . . those old, pre-graphics adventures like "Zork." The only problem? I could no longer find my CD with all of the games on it. I was stuck with downloading corrupted versions of a few, and seeking out online java versions of some of them. Finally, after much frustrated searching of my room - and, indeed, my whole house - I gave up. There were finals to study for, and cool new 3D accelerator cards to buy.
Tonight, I walk into the den to talk to Mom, and happen to glance at the bookshelf. Do I even need to say what was lying right on the top of a big pile of CDs? Of course not. I don't know where the hell it was the last 25,000 times I searched that shelf, but I guess it was waiting for an appropriately ironic moment to appear.
Now I can't decide if I should try and rekindle my interest in text adventures, or embrace the modern stuff. Since I'm only allowed to play games on the computer on weekends, I have to allot my time carefully.
Final decision: I'm taking this way too seriously.
Ping-pong, anyone?
